Café Calva, freshly brewed hot coffee served with a side of Calvados apple brandy, is an old tradition not well known outside of France. Every café in Paris serves it, but it’s often an off-menu item that you have to specially order. Don’t be put off by that fact, though, the waiter will most assuredly understand your request.

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 serving hot coffee
  • 1 oz plus 1/2 teaspoon Calvados

Preparation:

Pour the coffee into a serving mug and pour the 1 ounce of Calvados into a small shot glass. Sprinkle the remaining ½ teaspoon of Calvados over the hot coffee.

Makes 1 serving.
